Chanu Yi, who is the only artist using lamp-working technique in Korea, has made unrivaled glass tableware. By heating glass tubes and glass rods, the technique is used mainly in formative work and one of the effective techniques to express organic forms. Through the technique that is collaborated between the artist’s craft and fire, he creates craft works that bear shapes of nature. He uses heat-resistant glass called pyrex to consider practicality in his work and compensate for the shortcoming of glass materials. The curvy shape like organic beauty is the result of his deep consideration about the sense of grip and touch his glass work.
